Lily Allen takes swipe at ‘calculated’ Beyoncé after she releases debut country album | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Lily, who is currently recording a new album in Nashville, shared: “I’m here because I love country music and always have done, not saying Beyoncé doesn’t, but I tell stories in my music and that’s what country music is.”

While Lily doesn’t seem to be a fan of Beyonce’s genre change, music legend Sir Paul McCartney certainly is.

Paul, 81, has expressed his joy at Beyoncé’s moving cover of Blackbird, the civil rights-inspired song he released with The Beatles in 1968, which is featured on her new album Cowboy Carter.

In an Instagram post, the former Beatles band member, gushed: “I am so happy with Beyoncé’s version of my song ‘Blackbird’. I think she does a magnificent job of it and it reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place.

“I think Beyoncé has done a fab version and would urge anyone who has not heard it yet to check it out. You are going to love it!”
