Queen Camilla’s wardrobe hacks to always look on point revealed | Royal | News

Queen Camilla made headlines this week after she stepped out in Yorkshire on Monday to carry out a royal engagement and stunned fans with her outfit choice.

The Queen arrived at Catterick Garrison, where she met Royal Lancers and veterans in her first visit to the regiment since she was appointed its Colonel-in-Chief.

Camilla looked stunning in a blue Fiona Clare dress, which featured a red mandarin collar and a striking red hat, which featured the Royal Lancers cap badge.

The Queen has seen her personal style evolve over the years, with royal fans eagerly anticipating her future looks, according to a style expert.

Here, Express.co.uk takes a look at Queen Camilla’s five wardrobe essentials to always look on point for every occasion, as revealed by Megan Watkins, Head Stylist at online fashion destination SilkFred.

The Queen is regularly spotted wearing blue – a colour which can be worn during both warmer and colder months.

According to Ms Watkins, any hue of blue can be suited for any occasion as it “evokes a feeling of royalty”.

The expert explained: “The Queen’s Consort’s personal style has evolved over the years.

“Once known for her under-the-radar dresses and simple silhouettes, Camilla has shown us time and time again some flashes of real fashion brilliance.”

“Eagle-eyed royal watchers will know that Camilla’s go-to hue is a blue dress. From royal to cobalt to navy, Camilla often attends formal events in this serene colour.

“In 2023 alone, we saw Camilla in a blue dress at The Royal Ballet in November, a visit to the Garden Museum in June and for Easter celebrations.

“Camilla knows that this colour not only is appropriate for summer and winter, but that it evokes a feeling of royalty and pairs very well with silver or gold jewellery.”

The classic waxed jacket is another one of Queen Camilla’s favourite wardrobe staples.

The garment can elevate most casual looks, is suitable for the cold weather and can also pair well with earth and neutral tones.

Ms Watkins said: “When we do get to see Camilla in an off-duty look, it is a welcome surprise.

“When she isn’t formally dressed, Camilla often opts for a sturdy and classic waxed jacket and will pair it with matching earth and neutral tones.

“One of my favourite casual looks of Camilla’s is a monochrome look she wore in 2020 during a visit to the National Arboretum in Tetbury, England.

“This outfit is synonymous with Camilla’s laid-back and utilitarian sensibilities, displaying her practicality and love for classic British style.”

Another staple for anyone looking to emulate the Queen’s wife’s laid-back style is a classic pair of blue denim jeans.

Camilla likes to pair jeans with either classic white and blue shirts, and pared-back jewellery to showcase her love for the “quiet luxury” look.

The stylist explained: “Luckily enough for those of us who want to emulate her style, Camilla is one of the few royals who seems to be a fan of jeans.

“Another off-duty favourite of the Queen Consort’s, Bowles even wore a classic blue pair styled with a classic white shirt and black blazer for her 70th birthday picture. She can also be seen wearing jeans in portraits shared by Clarence House in 2017 and more recently in pictures from her 15th wedding anniversary and 2020 Christmas card.

“She often pairs her jeans with crisp white or blue shirts, and pared-back jewellery, showing her love of the classic ‘quiet luxury’ style. This is where Camilla shows off her laid-back style and arguably, where she feels most comfortable.”

Another look Queen Camilla has championed over the years is shirt dresses.

Shirt dresses can look feminine, and classic and are the perfect mix between casual and formal.

Ms Watkins said: “Camilla has also become known for championing shirt dresses. She has been seen in this style whilst holidaying in the Isles of Scilly in 2021 and in 2022 at the 200th anniversary celebration event of The Maritime and Coastguard Agency at the Torre Abbey Grounds, in Torquay. Both of these dresses were in a floral print with belted waists.

“This modest yet classic style is the epitome of Camilla’s love of feminine yet formal silhouettes.”

A royal first, Camilla is very keen on wearing kaftans, something not many, if any, members of the Royal Family do.

The Queen has been pictured wearing the garment on casual and formal occasions and according to the expert, it showcases her love for “unusual necklines, draped silhouettes and exotic styles.”

Ms Watkins said: “If there’s one style that Camilla favours that differs from other members of the Royal family – it’s kaftans.

She not only wears this style for warmer engagements, such as her tour of the Caribbean in 2019 but also opts for more formal versions of this item for events such as a Fashion Show in 2018 and a gala dinner in Kuala Lumpur in 2017.

“This shows her love for unusual necklines, draped silhouettes and exotic styles.”
