An 89-year-old driver struck multiple vehicles and a pedestrian after he lost control of his Mercedes in Brooklyn on Wednesday night, cops said.
The elderly driver had maneuvered his luxury sedan out of a parking space on 18th Ave. and was heading north when he collided with a 20-year-old man operating a scooter near 76th St. in Bensonhurst at 7:17 p.m., according to police and eyewitnesses.
“He hit a scooter and the guy went flying,” said a witness who did not want to be identified.
The car then veered onto 76th St. heading west toward Dyker Heights, where it collided with a parked taxi, the vehicle’s owner told the Daily News.
“I was parked to get some food and a car smashed into the back of my car,” said taxi driver Mohammed Tayyab, 37. “They lost control as they turned the corner.”
Tayyab said a 20-year-old passenger inside his grey Toyota Camry was injured during the crash.
“He has some injuries, but he’s alright,” the driver said.
The sedan then lurched onto the sidewalk and struck another man before slamming into a restaurant, Halal Xpress Asian Fusion, and came to rest, according to one woman.
“The car went up on the sidewalk and hit a guy who went flying under the awning of the restaurant,” said Nilsa Rosario, 52. “I tried to see if he was OK. He was lying there with his arm over his head. He was out.”
A female passenger in the Mercedes became trapped in the wrecked sedan after her airbag deployed, Rosario said.
Paramedics took all five victims of the crash — including the Mercedes driver and his passenger — to hospitals including Maimonides Medical Center and NYU Langone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.
