Brian May warns Queen fans of ‘disgusting’ AI scam for backstage tickets | Music | Entertainment

AI deepfakes are getting increasingly advanced, but they still have that uncanny valley look and sound.

It turns out some AI scammers on TikTok have been posting a video of what looks like Sir Brian May offering backstage tickets to a Queen concert.

The real guitar legend has posted the clip on his official Instagram warning fans: “HI FOLKS —- THIS IS A VILE SCAM — I was just alerted to this horrible criminal activity.

“I’ll let you know how I get on stamping out this disgusting attempt to steal money from trusting fans. Bri.”

Queen fans should know that the band currently have no future tour dates planned and don’t offer backstage tickets for money.

In the scam video, the robotic Brian May deepfake lies to viewers: “Hi folks, I hope you’re all well out there. I’m here to first of all bring you some good news: Backstage tickets for my next show in your cities are now going for only $800, which were previously $2000. I’m only selecting 10 people in the comments. So if you’re ready to make payment, comment ‘ready’.”

Fans are advised to only purchase tickets via official ticketing websites like Ticketmaster or the band’s official website.
